Here are some examples of repair costs, and our own charges.
- Call outs to your home or office: £25 which includes the first 30 minutes
- Labour charge for all work: £25 per hour, capped at a maximum of £100 per repair, regardless of time.
Most repairs can be completed within 1 or 2 hours on-site unless parts are needed and/or a computer is not repairable on-site but this will be established very quickly from the beginning.
So, worst case senario is that you would get a bill for £100 + Parts for us to come out and see you (£25 call out) collect, fix then return your computer to you, but it very rarely will come to that, dependant on the problem of course.
Example 1 repair costs: Broken screen on expensive HP business notebook
Replace a broken screen on 2 year old laptop like an HP business notebook:
- Call out to investigate problem, first 30 minutes to ensure the screen really is broken - £25.00
- Take laptop back to our office, order and replace screen - 1 Hour - £25.00
Total cost for a repair like this would be approximately £50 labour and around £80 for the screen, total £130.00 which is still far less than half the cost of buying a brand new rubbish laptop.
Example 2 repair costs: Hard drive corrupted and data recovery to new drive
Recover customers data from a corrupted or broken hard drive (Where possible)
- Customer to drop off laptop for repair : NO COST
- Replace the laptop hard drive with a new one (£60.00) - (Typical drives now 100GB+)
- 6 Hours labour to recover data and re-install customers operating system and applications (£100 Capped)
- Customer collects laptop all ready to go : NO COST
Total cost for a repair like this might average around £160.00
Dependant on replacement hard drive cost and the extend of the damage to the laptop hard drive.
Example 3 repair costs: Broken hinges on Toshiba laptop
This is quite a common repair where the hinges on your laptop have broken and your screen flops around on its own putting stress on the screen cables and making the laptop almost un-usable but is easily repaired.
- Customer to drop off laptop for repair : NO COST
- Replacement hinges for your laptop model : £20
- Dependant on laptop model, 2 hours to strip out old hinges and replace, the re-assemble laptop : £50
- Customer collects laptop all ready to go : NO COST
Total cost for a repairing laptop screen hinges : £70
Total cost is dependant on the model of laptop as some laptops have hinges that can easily be repaired, leaving the repair far stronger than the original hinge fittings, while others are not repairable requiring replacements. Repairable hinges can be fixed the same day, so feel free to bring your laptop over and show us the extent of the damage.
Beware of cheap replacements:
Beware of the cheap laptops desktops found on the high street too, they are cheap for a good reason, many use low grade parts, or unbranded slow memory and hard drives so you really will get what you pay for!
90% of repairs cost only a fraction of replaciing your computer like-for-like, so dont be tempted to throw away your computer thinking you are saving money because new computers all have 12 months warranty and with the cheap-grade components found in the budget PC's, you may just find that in 12 months time, you have another broken computer.
All of our replacement hard drives are NEW and carry a 3 year manufacturer warranty on them.
